Organization Of Swine Flue Awareness Mission

      India has lost 526 peoples due to Swine Flue infection from August 2009& in Maharashtra 214 peoples died. Uptilnow 2042 cases reported positive of Swine Flue infection& recovered. The outbreak of this infection was in Pune, gradually its infection spread to other cities in Maharashtra..At that time it was major problem in Kolhapur District.N.S.S. Coordinator of M.U.H.S. Nashik Noticed us to conduct programme on Swine Flue .So we organized Swine Flue Awareness Campaign in the Jaysingpur city.

Mission – Save The Baby Girl

       Kolhapur is one of the districts in the Maharashtra having skewed sex ratio. The sex ratio according 2001 sensus is 839 per 1000 of males because of the the female feticide by the sex determination on sonography machine. The sex ratio of Maharashtra state is 922 female per 1000 of males.
Government of Maharashtra Oraganized Mission – ‘Save the Baby Girl’ across the Maharashtra in 2009. N.S.S. volunteers under the guidance of Programme Officer Dr. Vaijnath Yadav, Participated in this mission& conducted following Public awareness programme in Jaysingpur city.

    Organization of Slowgun competition, Debate competition, Rangoli competition, Posters competition, Essay writing competition.

Organization Of HIV/Aids Awareness Campaign& Formation Of Red Ribbon Club

       In all 4.62 lacks HIV positive cases detected in Maharashtra uptilnow. Kolhapur district with 8000 HIV positive cases, ranks fifth in the state among the high risk areas after Mumbai, Pune, Sangli& Solapur district.
A Red Ribbon Club was formed on 1st December 2010 in our college with fifty members. (30 NSS volunteers + 10 teachers + 10 other non NSS volunteers.) A one day training programme was held for the members of Red Ribbon Club in J. J. Magdum Ayurved College.

Theme Of Camp :Health, Public Sanitation& Personal Hygiene

Programme conducted in the N.S.S camp.

  3. Healthy student competition for school
  4. Drinking water& drainage water management program
  5. Program on diet& nutrition
  6. Program against superstitions and addiction
  7. Program against Female Feticide
  8. Arrangment of free diagnostic& treatment Camp

Poster Exhibition :

Displaying information against Female feticide& addiction. Charts on HIV/AIDS were also displayed. It was opened for entire camp period.

25 N.S.S. volunteers participated in the camp

Arrangement of Orientation: 

Students enrolled as volunteers in the first year. They were attended 20 hours orientation course.
It was conducted in the following manner :

  1. General orientation – 2 Hours
  2. Special orientation – 8 Hours
  3. Programme on Skill Learning – 10 hours

1. General Orientation: 

N.S.S. Programm Officer Dr. Vaijanath Yadav arranged lecture which covers topics like history, aims& objectives of N.S.S, duties& code of conduct for N.S.S. volunteers.
Lecture regarding NSS regular activities, various social problems like health, environmental problems, illiteracy, agricultural development, public Sanitation, Status of women& their problem s in the society, water resources management program, Eradication of social evils like casteism, regionalism, corruption, untouchability, drugging, superstitions, Female feticide& current issues were discussed. Students motivated for social service in this general orientation program.

2. Special Orientation: 

In this programme information about special activities, its implementation methods were discussed. Our institute raised social conscious of students by arrangement of various program like eloqution competition, Rangoli Competition, Essay writing competition, Debate, competition, Street plays& Drama competition, and provision of award for them. Arrangement of lectures of eminent speakers, so that we achieved goal of N.S.S. education through community service& community service through education.

Remarks:

N.S.S. is one of useful medium for the students& teachers to develop a sense of social consciousness among them.It has aroused among the students an awareness of the realities of life, a better understanding& appreciation of the problem of the people. N.S.S. is thus concrete attempt in making education relevant to the needs of the society .It teaches us that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole.

N.S.S. creates NOT ME BUT YOU thought in the mind of the youth & society.
